Spilling the Beans!

(The charming ladies in this photograph have nothing to do with the subject-matter!)

SUNDAY SCRIBBLINGS suggests CONFESSION as a topic this week.

SPILLING THE BEANS!

Four ladies of a certain age went out one day to dine,
Eating well and quaffing, too, glass upon glass of wine.
Of course, they all got tiddly and began to tell the truth
About the little secrets they had treasured since their youth.
Noleen was the first to speak....'If I admit to you
A certain little secret, will you all admit one too?'
'Of course we will!' the others said, each with a little grin;
'Go on, Noleen! Spill the beans! We will, if you begin!'
'Well' said Noleen, blushing, but pulling out all the stops,
'I'm a Kleptomaniac! I steal things from the shops'.
There was a lengthy silence, then Patsy said 'All right!
I'm an Alcoholic! I get blotto every night!'
Freda paused a second  but she plucked up courage then
Saying 'Well, I'm a Nymphomaniac; I can't get enough of men!'
Bea sat and contemplated and the others watched wide-eyed;
What could she possibly tell them that could keep them satisfied?
Bea said 'What I've heard today could stay within four walls,
But I confess I'm a Gossip!

I'm off to  make some calls!'

That was great fun. I think maybe they should have appointed you as the new Poet Laureate today!

Made me laugh out loud - now I am wondering what the ladies will do with their loose-lipped friend :)

I am laughing too. You are very clever. And I like poetry to rhyme of at least be musical. point in case the old aussie bush poets and the musical rhythm in their work.

Oh Brenda, what a laugh! I really enjoy your rhymes. How DO you do it? Think of ideas and then make them rhyme. Thanks for a lovely post.

A delight to read - I don't know how you make it all work right, but it's great, great. I would trust you with a 'fess up, but I have none that I'll tell.

wow! - i can't get over the breadth and width of your talent - i admire rhyming verse, but not good at it at all - my personal favourite is robert service - esp. sam magee - this little ditty was very witty indeed and funny to think of these naughty ladies spilling their beans - much enjoyed!!!
