Disappearing Act

My contribution to SCENIC SUNDAY this week.
scenicsunday.blogspot.com

We lived near Cape Town for eight years, and we returned for a holiday two years ago. The Cape is very beautiful, but, like all mountainous country, mists are liable to swirl in at any time to obscure the view. I saw this sea-mist rushing in and I was just able to photograph Lion's Head before it disappeared completely!

DISAPPEARING ACT.
The rock is rooted in the earth;
The mist is from aloft.
One is the ultimate hardness;
One the ultimate soft.
Together they bring us beauty,
As they stand, combine or drift.
The Cape! Such scenes of splendour!
They give our hearts a lift.

You may enjoy some of my other SCENIC SUNDAY efforts.

you got a nice shot. i share the same opinion, when it comes to mountains, we really have to struggle with clouds and fogs before we able to see a breath taking views

That is a massive mountain. Glad you got to snap a view of it before it was covered by the mist! Magical shot...

Definitely scenic in the mountains of Cape Town - I've never been, but your photo is great w/ that tall mountain there in the background!

Very nice capture--those mists travel more quickly than you think.

a tamil poet said... a girl standing in a terrace and drying her long hair... someone seeing from below would catch glimpses of her face now and then when her hair parts...

and compares that with the moon getting glimpsed when the leaves in the coconut tree sways...

Was reminded of that poem to read...
