CHICKEN AND ASPARAGUS PIE
(A rhyming recipe)
Two carrots, three onions, some mushrooms,
Cut them up finely and fry
In unsalted butter, five minutes.
Then stir in plain flour, by and by.
Now add milk and then cream, till it's creamy,
Plus seasoning, till it's just right.
Then, lastly, asparagus pieces
And cooked chicken. The size? Say a bite.
Pour the simmering mix in a pie-dish.
When it cools add the pastry on top.
Bake at HOT for about twenty minutes.
And you certainly won't have a flop!
Ingredients: 1/4 pound mushrooms, 3/4 ounce plain flour, 15 fluid ounces milk, 2 Tbspoons cream, 6 ounces canned asparagus, 1lb cooked chicken, puff pastry, egg wash.

PINKLY SPRING
You'd almost say that we're in clover!
The pinks and whites are spilling over,
Right outside the Shopping Centre;
They almost seem to demand to enter!
So fresh, so young, so full of cheer!
What a beautiful time of year!

oh nice...i wish more recipes were written in rhymes...wouldn't that be great fun..? your chicken and asparagus pie sounds delicious..hmmm
had a bad asparagus experience once...i still like it grilled with just a bit of oil and salt, but have found few other ways to eat it...this does not sound half bad though
I like that pie recipe ~ Looks good and yummy ~
What a fantastic way to remember a recipe!
Nicely done -- when are you serving?
I love it! It sounds and smells heavenly.
Great recipe poem - only you could have been the wryming writer!
3 onions sounds a lot!
I went the recipe route with my Poetics entry, too, but I've never been good at the rhyming bit. Your piece makes me want to give it a try, though! But I'm not sure what I'd do with "paprika"...
