The Easter Bilby

Australians are Anti-Rabbit, and the reasons are quite clear,
For they have been the country's scourge for many a long year.
Introduced as dinky pets a long, long time ago ago,
They began to breed like mad even as they said 'Hallo'!
Now there are many millions of them, breeding, running wild,
Ruining all the farmers' crops and making them quite riled.
At Easter Time we're sentimental about 'dear little' rabbits,
But there's a move to bring to mind their reproductive habits!
Our diminutive bilby has the same cutesy 'rabbit' ears,
And bilbies are no problem; in fact they're little dears.
A bilby made from chocolate is the sweetest thing to eat
And it looks really pretty and very hard to beat.
So All Hail to the Easter Bilby! He enhances Easter Time!
Whereas Rabbits are just criminals! Don't encourage crime!

Does meme rhyme with scheme? I don't know how to pronounce it.

What have have cute, floppy-eared animals to do with Easter anyway? And why the eggs?

I hear rabbits are a scourge in Australia, but is it their fault they reproduce so quickly?

Like the poem but I have to say I'm a rabbit fan. Hate to see the little things squashed on the roads.

Music is great. People are listening to romantic music. I've attached today to the music blog. Greetings.

Maybe you could neuter all those pesky rabbits. (Just kidding.)

I'm for the Bilbies. I visited the Bilby Centre at Charleville. It is wonderful to see the work they are doing to re generate the bilbie numbers.
