Oddities

ODDITIES!

Most of the dust around your house is made of cast-off skin!

Pearls will melt in vinegar, so never drop them in in!

Donkeys kill more people than crashes on the road.

Chewing-gum was first to have the well-known trade bar-code.

Venus rotates clockwise, the only planet that does.

Apples in the morning are better than a caffeine buzz.

A duck's quack doesn't echo and no-one quite knows why.

Walt Disney was afraid of mice (what a nervous guy!)

You burn more calories asleep than watching your TV.

(If you want to know important things always apply to me!)

BLUE WATER BOY

Two weeks before he couldn't swim!
We got quite tired of cajoling him.
He'd sit on the step and refuse to budge
Looking as stern as a High Court Judge!
'No I wont!' he'd frown and say;
'Not today! No, not today!'
Then, finally, in Daddy's arms
He tasted the water's cooling charms,
And then agreed to do his best
With a floaty jacket round his chest.
Then suddenly, he gave a shout......
'I think that I can swim without!'
So here is my Blue Water Boy.
Not an expression of great joy!
'Grim death' describes his stern expression!
It was worn throughout the swimming session.
And yet he swam with might and main
shouting 'Again! Again! Again!'
Once a baby looking on;
Now a 'boy' whose fear has gone!
All these stages flashing past!
Every one of them goes too fast!

PS

Say goodbye to Summer! But why bother.......it never arrived! It still seems impossible that a hot, dry country like Australia never had a Summer! (That goes for the eastern part of the continent; the Western part sizzled.) We expected steamy days from November on, but there were only three hot days in my part of the world and a never-ending blanket of cloud and rain! There were a few good days, but they were very rare. If this is global warming it's a very strange animal!

Your writing is always so enchanting. I need to make myself stop all this moving stuff and read your blog.

You transport me!
