Living the Dream

SATURDAYCENTUS
http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com.au

asks us to use the phrase
'I'm living the dream, man.....'

(I cheated a bit, and she hates cheats!)

LIVING THE DREAM

I'm living the dream, managing the life,
Mother, grandmother, friend and wife.
It might seem to others to be rather bland;
Hardly exciting, certainly not grand.
I'd like to have been a whole lot richer;
I'd like to have been very slim and tall;
I'd like to have been quite beautiful
In fact I'd have liked to have had it all.
But I've missed poverty,
I've missed a lot of pain,
And I certainly never
Fell beneath a train!
If I'd looked forward,
When a girl of sixteen,
I'd have called this 'Not too bad'.......
Just sort of in between.
(100 words)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MALCOLM!

Not too bad for eighty-two!
Lots of men might envy you!
No beer belly ( an abstemious life)
And an almost-perfect wife!
Happy Birthday once again!
From your only ball-and-chain!

A short time ago!

Rinkly, you didn't cheat very badly at all. Your nice rhyme would make up for any cheating (about the last word?). It does tell the good life in my book.

That's a wonderful "cheat". I like your poem very much.

Once again, you have given us a taste of your poetic talent! And Malcom is quite dashing, standing near the shore!!

Aw I think it's a great little 100 word poem, amazing that you got the word count in a poem, too. As for cheating, I don't think that falls into the category, you just used your imagination, right? The whole phrase was there, after all. ;)
If you get a chance, here is mine:

I wouldn't call that cheating. Cheating would be if you split the prompt or didn't use it at all... Well done. Love the poem. And happy birthday Malcolm! If you haven't been by yet, you need to come check what I wrote about our uncle Donald...they were of the same sweet generation.
