A FRIEND FOR MAX
(A little whimsy inspired by surfing the net)
I read on the Kids' Connection Blog
That poor little Max was an injured dog.
So here is our little dog, Banjo,
Coming along to say 'Hallo'.
Banjo was just a little pup,
(You could almost put him in a cup)
When this shot was taken, long ago now.
Banjo could hardly say 'Bow Wow!'
A Teddy Bear's jacket kept him warm,
Exactly fitting his tiny form.
He's an old dog now but he'd love to meet
Max, if he lived down the street.
A snake bit Banjo's leg last year;
It seemed, at times, that death was near.
But now he's fine so we can relax
And he sends regards to poor old Max.
*Banjo isn't really 'our' dog! He belongs to my grandson, Blake. But he spends a lot of time with us and he adores Grandpa. Banjo Paterson was a well-known Australian bush-poet and Banjo is an Australian dog. That's how he got his name.

WHO'S THAT?
A Poem for Little Children
'Who's that knocking?' Granny cried,
'Who's that standing on the step outside?
Is it the Postman with letters for me?
Is it Clara inviting me to tea?
Is it Spot, my favourite Dog?
Is it a Lizard? Is it a Frog?
Is it a Kitten who's after a Mouse?
Who's that knocking at the door to my house?
Is it some Rabbits with twitchy noses?
*
Ah! It's Evangeline, with some roses!'

Oh that is so sweet of you Ms. Brenda. Thank you so much! Max is feeling a lot better now, I hope that his leg will be healed right this time. Our vet had to re-break his leg because it healed wrong the first time they fixed it.
Oh my goodness, I just read what Rylie said about the vet re-breaking Max's leg. I think I'm going to be ill.
