Xanthe

ABC WEDNESDAY
letter 'X'

XANTHE

You can pick any one of these ladies and attach the name to her,
For she existed in legendary times and her history's a blur.
You see her cavort in the water, delightfully in the nude,
With some of her many sisters, a rather extended brood.
She had three thousand sisters! That makes one rather dizzy!
Her father, Oceanus, must have been pretty busy!
Each of the lovely daughters watched over some watery tract,
A lake, a stream, a river, a puddle (and that's a fact!)
Here they are having a great time, gambolling in the sea,
Which was just an excuse for the artist to reveal their nudity!

A different sort of wallow here:

Very clever and interesting use of the letter X. I'm learning so many new words and situations for this letter.

I think perhaps the mothers were busy, too! Three thousand is surely a plethora of siblings. X marks this a good spot!

I like this so much better than your rather dour water post. This fits the bill as well and the verse has a frothy flow to it just like the water in the painting. Nice one.

Let us hope all were from different Mothers!
Very fun post!

I had to smile reading "Q"'s concern. You had indeed triggered a thought about the father's busyness..!!
