Bust of an Unknown Man

The Wordle

Unknown Man

WRITTEN FOR SUNDAY WHIRL
We are asked to use all the words in the Wordle

BUST OF AN UNKNOWN MAN

As I walked the splendid corridors of the house so great and grand
I came upon an ancient bust on a rich and marbled stand.
I viewed the face with interest, strong chin, firm mouth, nose, cheeks
And I wondered at the person's life, with its valleys and its peaks.
Alas, the lips were silent,  so all knowledge was denied
And I was sorry we hadn't met before he aged and died.
Did he belong to some noble clan, did they all have similar faces?
Were  the ladies known for their beauty, were there family disgraces?
Was there fire in his earthly life, did he pawn his life for passion,
Did things go right , did things go wrong , was he true in his own fashion?
He wasn't a national hero, the plinth didn't bear his name
And I could find nothing in his face that witnessed pride or shame.
The curator had no knowledge  so unless some circumstance
Led me to my answers.......a very unlikely chance.....
I would never know for certain.....was he venal, was he just?
He would remain forever, an intriguing marble bust.

THANKS
(An Acrostic)

To all who help me out
Here I say thanks to you.
And those who smile at me
Now I must thank them too.
Kind words and sweet, kind ways
Shine warm beams on my days.

How many faces are at a loss to speak the secrets only they hold in their cold stony gaze. Nicely wordled! I see now how you say we traveled a similar path. Thanks for your visit to my mixed short form offering. :)
