BIG TENT POETRY
suggested the topic 'feet'.
In an age of increasing speed,
A footpath's what we sorely need.
Something to slow us down a little,
When life is bright and brash and brittle.
Soothe your senses with this sight;
Compare it with the world of 'byte'!
Picture yourself brushing through the grasses,
Where nothing heavier than footfall passes.
Smell the perfume of wild flowers
Where no scent assaults or overpowers.
Pick up a stone and view its veins,
The marks of soil and weather stains.
Marvel at all the living things,
Those that crawl and those with wings.
Listen to the chirp of crickets,
In tufts and greenly pleasant thickets.
Sit yourself upon the stile...........
You've nothing at all to do but........
"On Foot" speaks to me in ways you'll never know. There is something about a path that always draws me in. So much so that my friends now send me pictures of paths that they come across.
Have a lovely week. La
On Foot sounds absolutely glorious!
On Foot - the "bytes"do make us live in a virtual world...!!!
The Road Ahead - A TINY, brave and determined warrior indeed.
You took me for a lovely walk, Rinkly. Both poems are lovely.
The meadow and stile picture are so enticing.
Such beautiful and enticing words made me smile and feel at peace... thank you for such lovely inspiration!
These two work especially well together, reminding the reader that filling his/her senses is a big part of a successful journey that must begin alone, but then be shared.
Love both the words and images,
Amen. It's so important to remember to slow down and see the world. The real one, going on too often without our notice. I enjoyed reading this.
Both are so good!
I write notes here...
I really enjoyed this! I often wish i could write brighter, more inspiring poems, but it's a skill that eludes me. This really made me smile. :)
Oh, yes, the slow lane footpath. Sounds divine - love this piece!
your poem does make me want to find that path - nicely done
