THE FAIRY-TALE
(See explanation at the end)
I'm about to tell you a fairy-tale
So, children, gather round;
Hang upon my every word;
Sit quietly on the ground.
*
Once upon a time, a lady
Made a New Year Resolution;
She had a lot of problems
Lining up for a solution.
In a mood of heightened hope
She made herself a list;
And underlined it all in red
So nothing would be missed.
Of course, it wasn't the first time
She had taken this course,
But now she was determined,
A quite unstoppable force!
Of course, it wasn't the first time
She had taken this course,
But now she was determined,
A quite unstoppable force!
She would end-up a new person;
Her life she'd rearrange;
Her old life was behind her;
She was really going to change.
And lo! The lady was transformed!
Life took on a new direction!
From henceforth she lived it
In a state of true perfection.
*
And that's the end of my story,
Thanks for listening to me.
It's good to indulge oneself, sometimes
In delicious fantasy.

PUZZLE POOL!
Peering through the overhanging branches
I see a strangely mystifying scene.
Am I looking down at sky or up at water?
Everything's reversed! See what I mean.
The 'distant' trees are standing on their branches!
The sky is at their feet, not up on high.
Is this a secret window into strangeness,
Another world where earth replaces sky?
Silly me! You know the answer to the question!
It's evident there is no magic here.
I'm looking down at water through the branches
And reflection makes the magic trick appear!

Conserving energy and multi-tasking admirably I think Rinkly! Nicely done ... a fairy tale that's not so much a cautionary tale for once - I really like it.
You dreamer! Maybe it will happen. Dreams do happen. Occasionally.
You tell the tale well, Rinkly!

Very cute and creative. Happy New Year!
"Her life she'd rearrange..."
I liked this line, the best in the poem.
Resolutions are promises we make to ourselves knowing we won't take it so hard when we break them :)
the tale of a self-achieving fairytale - I like your take on it! it's different - the resolution to do better or live perfection, who said fairytales needed anything more than determination! nicely done
Really sweet poetic tale:)
That's a Fairy Tale, all right! Love it!
Wow, that was an amazing multitasking feat - and the fairy tale just lilted over the tongue. Happy New Year!
Ha ha! The resolutions poem made me smile. I am grappling with similar thoughts right now. Love your fairy tale.
Resolutions usually end up being a fairy tale for me. Loved the rhythm and story in this poem!
I love the poem for change ... it is filled with hope fr the New Year ... may yours be happy! And yes, I caught that last line, just ignored it ;).
Great fun, as always, Brenda.
"And lo! The lady was transformed!
Life took on a new direction!" is very possible, and often does happen, but I doubt if
"From henceforth she lived it
In a state of true perfection" ever happens to anyone other than Mother Theresa.
As for your New Year Resolution, my friend, I applaud it and hope you follow through. You can't slow down to a crawl, of course, it isn't in you — but conserving your energy does seem like a good idea for the year 2012.

I'm gonna get me a red pen!
A lovely fairy-tale! But we all need a sweet fantasy occasionally and I really got caught up in this one!
