Honey

 Valentine Cameron Prinsep

CARRY ON TUESDAY

The words in blue are a direct quote from Victor Hugo

HONEY

Life is a flower of which love is the honey.
Making all other pleasures seem fake.
It's the gilt on the gingerbread, better than money!
It's the icing we want on our cake.
Without love the world is quite pleasant for certain,
With food and good books and a stroll,
But when love arrives it's like raising the curtain
And acting the very best role.
But love need not be passion, all fireworks and glitter,
For friendship is love in a way,
So, if love hasn't found you don't sulk and feel bitter.
Some honey will soon come your way.

"Some honey will soon come your way!" I love that! Depending on which word is stressed, it could mean several different things-fun! Great poem!
