LAKE MISTAKE

The beauty of Lake Macquarie is easy to discern.

Whenever I have visited I've been eager to return.

It once was known as Reid's Mistake  because an officer of the fleet

Thought he'd found a river! I think that's rather sweet.

But a case of mistaken identity hasn't ruined its reputation,

And it has been, for many years, a favourite destination.

When the sun blazes out of the cloudless blue

It almost passes us by,

But a shadowy-shine

Is a grand design;

It's an art-work in the sky.
