Dignity and Impudence!

DIGNITY AND IMPUDENCE!

They had sailed so regally to the appointed spot,
Where the tit-bits were on display.
No begging, no demanding;
Just eyes and beaks at the ready.
Their wakes had been smooth, unruffled,
As befits royalty.
*
A toss!
Maybe a crust,
Maybe a meaty-bite,
Maybe (for toddlers do not distinguish!)
A sweetie!
Whatever it was
It disappeared in one elegant gulp.
As befits personages.
*
Then the gulls descended!
A rough, tough, squawking bunch
Of predators!
Definitely low-class!
Suddenly all was flurry!
Tumble!
Dive!
Shriek!
Even the pelicans
Clacked their beaks
With menace!
*
Would that we all had
Good Manners!

A great bird picture and story! Don't see pelicans around here, if ever! I bet you have more to show?
