The Truckies' Memorial

THE TRUCKIES' MEMORIAL

We passed it on a busy road, a sort of wayside shrine,
With all the names engraved on it..... sadly, line after line.
Truck-drivers names from down the years, killed while plying their trade.
A sad and mournful  litany, a sorrowful cavalcade.
Maybe we should spare a glance when we see a passing truck,
And whisper underneath our breath 'Mind how you go! Good luck!'

A very different memorial here:

See tomorrow's blog for  a medical joke.

The plight of the truck drivers who spend most of their time on the road. They do deserve our prayers and how sweet to put up a memorial for them.

I think it's wonderful they have this memorial. And what a great response to Carmi's "on the road" theme.

This is a powerful reminder that the road takes as well. Thank you for sharing this beautiful, sobering message. You have such a way of taking Thematic themes and making them your own.

Road tolls are often forgotten after a few years.

Good that you have a plague for the truckies.

Wow, that certainly is an unusual one! It's very beautiful too, but there are so many names. :(

Good take for the theme. I am always amazed at all of the different types of memorials you can find in Australia.
