Lapis Lazuli

LAPIS LAZULI
The blue of lapis lazuli on a good friend's window-sill,
Waiting until the sun comes beaming through.
Waiting to form deep shadows on the fruit baskets below,
Adding the subtle mystery of blue.
This is the home of travelers to all parts of the earth;
In native markets they were pleased to buy
Many a quaint memento to bring home and enjoy.
And here we see their lapis lazuli.
If this colour were to be paler it would simply fade away,
Darker it would surely dominate,
But this shade is perfection and gives me peace of mind.
And something lovely I can contemplate.

Two great posts from you today! I love the sweet yellow sunglasses shot and poem. These blue bottles are lovely, rather like the ones I have on my kitchen window sill. Only mine are different shades of blues. I also just clicked on your story of Eliza and the indigo. What an amazing girl, guess I should say woman! A wonderful story.

I love blue glass. I used to buy a wine in blue bottles and found it too hard to throw the bottles in the recycling bin!
