Face the Facts

The Wordle

THE SUNDAY WHIRL
asks us to use the Wordle words.

FACE THE FACTS!

The earth will fly through the Universe,
Spinning around as of yore.
Next year will take over from last year
Even quicker than before.
Every citizen of this orb
Will play some foolish game,
Getting in all sorts of trouble,
But the spinning will be the same.
Luck will do nothing to help us;
dream won't show us the way;
Whatever will happen will happen
Sure as night will follow day.
Philosophers and Scientists
Think they are in charge,
But they are very puny
And the Universe very large.
Rulers of states wear purple
But for certain they will find
That we're not in charge of anything;
We just lag behind.

------------------------------------------------------

BLUE BUTTERFLIES!

A hundred thousand brooches pinned to a gnarled old tree!
Deceiving us with a fluttering look of light fragility.
They've experienced 'the change of life', they've flown through endless air
And now they hang like a blue bouquet with flamboyance and with flair.
They have the upper hand, my friends, for, though we stand and gaze,
They think nothing of our open mouths
And ignore our stupid praise.

Wonderful wordling, as usual, Rinkly. And the blue butterflies are gorgeous.

Amazing that they all are in the same place. I once experienced something similar on the greek island of Rhodes. Amazing!

Greetings from a rainy Vaxholm/ Tyra

Two excellent poems, Brenda! It seems several of us older poets are taking note of time's passage in our offerings this week. And that butterfly photo is magnificent. :)

Ah yes, most of us have less or more power than we think--but in the large sense we are all pretty puny! I love the photo of the butterflies and your description of them as brooches.

Ah yes, so true that we are not in charge of anything. We just pretend we are. LOL.
