Fortress

SUNDAY SCRIBBLINGS
chose the topic

FORTRESS
(An Acrostic)

Facing the on-coming army,
Overlooking the battle-field below,
Ramparts ready and waiting
To repel the attacking foe!
Rising above the tree-tops,
Every soldier sturdy and straight!
Sentinel! Defending the righteous!
See! The enemy is at the gate!

SANDSTONE

Sometimes the dazzle of the sun and the sea
Obscure the more mundane beneath our feet.
Here is a humdrum beachside view, with all the colour bleached,
Devoid of blue and green, and breeze and heat.
And, suddenly, the sandstone reveals itself to us,
With curves and shadows, like a piece of art,
And greenery and waves recede from their normal centre-stage,
While sandstone plays the most important part.

Love your Acrostic and am blown away that we chose the same "fortress". The Neuschwanstein Castle. The photo of it helped me write the poem. :) Enjoyed your discovery of the colors in Sandstone; like a piece of art. Beautiful.

loved the acrostic. it captures how one kingdom must be reading when the enemy is knocking.
