MY WORLD

WATERY WEDNESDAY
BRING A CUSHION!
If you're strolling along by Throsby Creek
And your feet are getting tired
You'll think the position of this seat
Positively inspired!
You can sink back on a sofa
And view the pleasant scene.
The water blue, the shadows deep
And the trees and grass so green.
But when your 'seat' is on the seat
You may feel less content!
Fancy building a 'comfort zone'
Out of hard cement!

TOTAL ECLIPSE
July 2010
They traveled to Easter Island
For a total eclipse of the sun.
It would only last a minute or two
And then be over and done.
Once, long ago, in magical days,
Other people gathered to see
The wonderful transformation
Of the sun out over the sea.
They trembled as it blackened
And then it disappeared!
This was one of the magical things
They all so devoutly feared!
Because these were the days of magic
And science was quite unknown
They feared that the sun's disappearance
Would mean they were turned to stone!
And, sure enough, as they gazed at it,
They felt quite faint and ill.
They turned to stone while gazing
And we see them gazing still.

What an art deco look to that bench. I liked your punch line in the poem - I did think the "bench" looked cushioned and inviting!
I can't believe how gifted you are with words. Both of these poems are fantastic. I love it when I have the time to come for a visit!! ~karen
Great capture and words as always, Brenda! The "bench" does indeed look inviting! Have a lovely week!

What a fabulous couch. And you went to Easter Island? How cool is that! One day I'll go there too, I hope...
How funny! That sculptor had a whimsical sense of humour.
Did you go to Easter Island? Wow.
Just beautiful Brenda! It amazes me how many wonderful words flow from your mind! Love Di ♥
Loved both poems Brenda but I just could not help but imaging a sore rump after sitting on the concrete for hours at a time...what a tease lol. Thank you for sharing.
that's the neatest looking couch I've ever seen!
& both of your poems are perfect.
Cement! How tricky and I was ready to relax. :)
Great couch as a bench.

Love a good sofa in the park.
Especially one that is beautiful from all angles.
Perfect spot for a sofa. It would be great to have a snooze in the sun there.
As always the double bonanza of your poetry is such a treat!!!
This is one excellent post. Your talent with words, your photos...all super.
