First comes the mockery.
Then comes the pity.
Finally,
And most importantly,
Comes the admiration.
*
Maybe he lives on the street.
Maybe he has no-one to love him.
Maybe he is growing old.
Maybe he is feeling fragile.
*
But he is not giving-in.
*
And the cure is colour!
*
Bright scarves,
Flowers on the hat,
A decorated accordion.
And, at his feet,
The rainbow colours of his xylophone!
*
Surely he plays
'Somewhere Over the Rainbow'.
Surely he still hopes
For the Crock of Gold.
*
When he goes,
As go he must,
He will explode like a Catherine Wheel!
Colourful to the end.

Ahhhh, bless his colorful little heart. Sweet shot.
It looks like he's enjoying, very colorful, can attract people no doubt.
Hopefully I will be this colorful when I'm his age! Looks like he is enjoying life!
Perhaps he has just lived long enough to not care what anyone else thinks and he just wants to have fun and make people smile.
He certainly is a colourful character
Wonderful shot, wonderful poem, wonderful character.
Great title for your poem. He certainly does have resolve and knows how to attract attention. I hope his playing is as good as his outfit.
What a great post!
I wonder where he goes at night. I imagine that at that stage in one's life there's not much to worry about except where to eat and sleep at night. That appeals to me! Nice rime for an unusual capture.
Awww, how beautiful! What a great capture, awesome subject and perfect poem to go along with it all - very impressive!
Marvelous poem to accompany your COLORFUL character find ;--)
