WATERY WEDNESDAY

The Hawkesbury River is close at hand,
And it's there the boats are moored.
So many people yearn for a boat
And then go 'overboard'.
The lakes, the rivers and harbours too
Are chock-a-block with shipping.
In fact, if one hasn't got some sails
One's reputation's slipping!
But it's one of life's great mysteries,
It happens with constancy......
Far, far more are at anchor
Than are ever seen on the sea!

A very different river here:

We used to call those things gin palaces. Went with dark blue blazers and yachting caps. The only good thing being they had to give way to sail,
LOL! Your poem made me laugh. Makes you wonder, really. But still, it's a very lovely scene even if the boats aren't much used. ;)
Funny poem! It does sseem a waste if they are not out on the water. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoyed the poem! I wonder if they drink their glasses of wine and port with their little pinkies raised in the air, along with their noses? LOL! Nice reflection of the boats in the water.
Like everything else, when you have too much you hardly ever use it. Keeping a boat is just like farming: with farming you bury your monwy, with boating you blithely toss it into the sea.

Love the poem!lol the picture is very beautitful aswell! Have a lovely week!
My inlaws are BIG boaters (sailing and yachting). New Zealand was one of their favourite places to do that! Beautiful!
BTW-thanks for checking out my blog. You are more than welcome to write a poem about my son...let me know if you need a picture or anything. I'd love to read the poem when you are finished.
That was a great poem. It's a sham the boats are used more. It looks so lovely there.
Have a great SUnday.
