GRADUATION
Girls and boys come out to play!
Rules are broken for today!
All those years of gruesome studies,
Dictated by old fuddy-duddies!
Up till now I've had to learn,
Aiming for the time to earn,
Time to earn that lovely money.
I found learning far from funny!
Out into the world I go
Now to get that lovely dough!

Alas! Schol was only the beginning of all the hard work it would take to earn that dough!
You have captured the thoughts of most graduates. Well said.
Those are my favorite poems to write. The ones that have meaning down the first line.
Wishful thinking for our grads these days! Getting a job what's more the dough!
I hated school! Couldn't wait to get a job! Get married! Have kids! Send THEM to school! Now I'd like to go back to school!
I liked the 'cycle' Melli has mentioned. Your poem has obviously sent the thoughts in circles..!!!
