The Drums of Dawn

SKYWATCH FRIDAY
here we come!
I saw this rising sun from the deck of a cruise-ship recently.
THE DRUMS OF DAWN

Kipling said it first, of course...... 'The dawn comes up like thunder'
And, when one sees a dawn like this, is that any wonder?
There should have been a sound-effect to complement the scene,
Something really rousing from a film by David Lean!
Of course, the waves were rippling by (the weather wasn't rough)
But a gentle wishy-washy sound just didn't seem enough.
An army, ready for battle, might be lining up to fight,
With the sunshine on the golden shields dazzling us with light.
So bring on some Sousa marches with some trumpets and some drums!
The sun, Lord of the early sky is coming! See! He comes!

A silver dawn here:

Brenda, I am constantly amazed at your ability to come up with an appropriate rhyme every day. You have a rare talent that awes me.

Not only are your rhymes original, but they often tell a story. I hope you will publish a book of your poems; heck, it would take a series of books to include all of your rhymes.

What a beautiful description of a beautiful moment. A moment that passes much too quickly!

Unusual inclusion of David Lean, but with this glorious backdrop he would approve.

Such a beautiful shot of sunrise on the sea and how you bring the writting of Kipling with it that set even mor fascinating mode. Are we with him on an ocean liner at the Indian ocean?
