Topic 'PLASTIC'
The photograph is of my grandson, Blake, several Christmases ago!
DRASTIC PLASTIC!
(To be sung to the tune 'Maria' from 'Sound of Music.')
How did we cope before the days of plastic?
How did we play with toys of tin and wood?
How did we ever think they were fantastic;
Desirable things, acceptable and good?
How did we cope before the days of plastic?
How did we cuddle dolls that didn't speak?
How did the girls and boys
Play with such stupid toys?
Surely the awful things were too antique!
So how did we cope before the days of plastic?
How did we live a life that was so bleak?
*
Children today are swamped by things of plastic!
Children today don't bang on saucepan lids!
Aeroplanes fly without that twirled elastic!
The shops are awash with colour and with kids!
Children today are swamped by things of plastic!
They're used for a while and then they're thrown away.
So how is it in the past
Our playthings were made to last
Back in the days of old when play was play?
But how did we cope before the days of plastic?
Surely our poor old lives were dull and grey!

There isn't too many things that don't come in plastic anymore. Makes a person wonder how we got along with out it before.
Have a fantastic week-end.
Drat, you made me sing that in my head - all the way threough! x
And what are we doing with the refuse? Can it be recycled?
plastics are beautiful but there's always the sad fact about it..
I always wanted to get one of those Lego ships, but my ds was more into Bionicles.
Yes, and our kids have a lot less imagination than they used to have. Sitting in front of the plastic video games and the plastic tv and having ears plugged into the plastic iPod have dulled their senses and their brains. I had a small set of play aluminum pots... and there is nothing more imaginative than making mud pies and using a broom for a make believe horse and concocting all sorts of stories in your head. No wonder our kids can't write!
One of my favorite toys as a kid was a set of Lincoln logs. Plastic is everywhere. Nice job on the lyrics.
Surely our poor old lives were dull and grey!
You really pressed the flashback button..!!!
Coming to think of it... probably it was the toys that were dull and grey, but our soaring imagination while playing with them always had a sparkle.
