ONE SINGLE IMPRESSION
PAUSE
What is this life if, full of flaws,
We have no time to stand and pause?
To let the water cascade down
Obliterating every frown?
To stand beneath the drenching spray
Which washes care and hurt away?
The leap from bed to face a life
That's full of worry, full of strife,
Is over, but what lies before
Is a life of work, a daily war!
But, just for now, you are washed clean,
As though your tension's never been.
Close your eyes, and take this time
To banish more than dirt and grime.
Let the water cleanse your mind;
Leaving clarity behind.
What is this life if, full of flaws,
We have no time to stand and pause?

TO STAND AND STARE
An old-world fence that speaks of farms;
We half-expect sheep bleating,
But here we have some beach-side charms,
The sand and ocean meeting.
The Autumn calm was moving in,
Mellow the sun was growing,
The drifting clouds were white and thin,
And soft the breeze was blowing.
I loved those gentle Autumn days;
The Summer heat is tiring.
I revelled in the soft grey haze.
And leaned on the fence, admiring.

Pause poem has so much food for thought...
nothingness
I agree that your poem really makes one stop and reflect on what is important and how to enjoy that. Water truly does have those powers to wash away the worries. Very nice.
Such a gift to put words to an 'event' that often is, in itself, a daily event, and not a pause for reflection.
Very good rhyming poem as always.. good that I paused and re-read it.. found it better the second time..

pause... if only it were as easy as washing away troubles and replacing it with clarity. How I wish....
