The Greening of the Bridge.

THE GREENING OF THE BRIDGE

Not long ago, in Sydney town,
They laid a road of green turf down.
The Sydney Harbour Bridge was closed
As people picnicked there, and posed.
Not one vehicle was allowed,
Accommodating the happy crowd.
Amid the bustle of the city
The grey old bridge looked almost pretty.
And urban creatures used to grime
Cavorted and had a great old time
Acting-out a country spree
With sandwiches and thermos tea!
Such a lively, rural scene......
Proving "It's easy, being GREEN".

What a great idea; turning a bridge into a pedestrian walk way.

Amazing how something like a bridge can be changed so much with a strip of green. Fascinating!

The last time the Auckland harbour bridge was closed to traffic was a protest march of the citizens and cyclists. I don't know if was GREEN or not.

Yours is a prettier picture.
