You Asked for It!

HAIKU HEIGHTS

Topic 'FIELD'

FIELD
Somnolent under a workaday sky.
Cows low fitfully.
The circle of the year turns on.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
YOU ASKED FOR IT!

You asked for a Field....
Here it is.
Not unpleasant.
Rural, useful, cow-flecked.
Bordered by a straggling fence.
A Field is a workaday thing,
Rufty-tufty, ragged and unremarkable.
*
Ah! But if you had asked for a Meadow!
That would have been a different thing altogether!
A Meadow is
Billowing,
Lush,
Smelling of sweet clover.
It is inhabited by bees,
And young lovers hidden in the grass.
It is surrounded by snow-clad mountains
And overhung by blue skies and the whitest of clouds!
Here is a Meadow!

If only you had asked me for a Meadow
I could have written a proper poem!

Fascinating, poetic way of finding only utilitarian attraction in a field while a meadow is laden with lush beauty of pleasures! I guess I'm not sure because I have not seen a meadow!
