A BLUE BOWL
New home, old house. And, looking round,
This big blue bowl in the yard was found.
A soup tureen for a family?
A bowl where bulbs bloomed happily?
I've no idea, but a closer look
Revealed a ceramic story-book!
Please enlarge this casual shot
To 'read' the quite delightful 'plot'.
See gracious buildings, trees on high,
Folk on horseback passing by.
There are shadows, shimmers, patterned rooves.
I can almost hear the horses' hooves!
Has it value? I don't know.
Maybe it was made not long ago!
I only know it gives me pleasure,
Which makes it a discovered treasure.

If anyone can throw any light on this discovery I would be delighted to hear from them!

IN MEMORIUM
The jasmine will soon be blooming
All over the countryside
And my lovely hedge of jasmine
Was once my joy and pride.
I called my little back-yard
My arbour and retreat
And the wonderful smell of the jasmine
Made everything seem sweet.
But, alas, it grew too heavy;
It broke the fence below
And I knew, although it broke my heart,
That my jasmine had to go.
The jasmine will soon be blooming;
The perfume will be divine.
It will bloom in many a small back-yard
But never again in mine.

Don't give up on the Jasmine - plant another one!
And the blue dish find is wonderful!
What a wonderful garden you have, Brenda. That dish would give me pleasure too!
Happy Blue Monday!
What a cool find-so unique and interesting! Happy BYM!
beautiful blue in the china
Wow that is a great piece of blue china you have there. Great find!
Have a fun week!
I adore Blue china, bowls, vases you name it. Beautiful gardens too.
I can't believe they left it behind. What a wonderful piece.
what a totally lovely treasure to find!
What a pretty blue bowl to treasure.
The bowl is beautiful. Is there any identification on the bottom of it (manufacturer, etc.). If there is any info, you could do a google search and maybe get a sense for the value. It looks like quite a find, even if it isn't worth a lot.
Lovely blue poetic tale!
Nice little poems!
I'm sad about the jasmine. Can't you give it one more chance, in a different area perhaps?
=)
Beautiful bowl and delightful little rhyme as well. I'd say the bowl is quite a great find. I can't image anyone leaving this behind. I like the idea of planting bulbs in it, but I don't think I'd leave this piece outside all the time. ~ Sarah
Nice find for your "blue" post...lovely ;-) Peace and blessings
Brenda. What a charming charming stop for Rainbow Summer School.
I am pretty sure that is a piece of transfer ware. Is there is a marking you might be able to find the manufacturer.
There was a childrens book about a blue willow teapot (which I suspect was also transferware) and the child imagined living in the scene.
Your imagery brought that to mind. A lovely memory I think you for.
Thanks for linking Brenda.
You are a gem!

I love the blue bowl.
What a lovely bowl. It certainly does give one the opportunity to make up a history for how it got there.
Brenda, this was one of the memorable blue posts for me and it was really fun to read it again.
Have you discovered more about the bowl? You got a lot of suggestions last time as to what it might be and I'm curious whether any of them shed any light on the dilemma.
Thank you for linking to Alphabe-Thursday!
Your poem and your story about finding the bowl were beautiful.
A+
Love the story you told in your verse about the bowl. I love this type of pattern but do not know anything about it.
What a cool find that bowl is!
How sad about the jasmine! I hope you are still able to catch a whiff of the scent from time to time.
Growing up my grandmother had dishes that were that blue and white design. I loved them!! And I also loved your post!
I don't know what it is..but it sure is lovely!
