Osmosis

WRITTEN FOR 'WE WRITE POEMS'

OSMOSIS

In a way it's hardly logical
To use a term that's biological
When describing mental agility
And a very human ability.
In plants we find a weak solution
Flows towards a strong dilution
Through a membrane. Liquids rise
Without this the flower dies.
The ground is wet and, effortlessly,
The moisture rises through bush or tree.

So why the common human link?
This is not the way that humans drink.
No! But think back to babyhood
When nothing was really understood,
But ideas entered the little brain
Effortlessly and with no strain.
This was learning at its best
And we can't help but be impressed.
Osmosis belongs to plants and flowers
But we have managed to make it ours.

WORLD ECONOMY
(An Acrostic)

'Which way, what way, why and how?'
Our questions in the here and now.
Recently, not long ago,
Lots of us were flush with dough.
Dabbling in stocks and shares
*
Everything caught us unawares!
Countries widely separated
Overnight became related.
Nothing could save us! We went under!
Overdrawn! It was no wonder.
Megabucks went down the drain.
You and I caught in the rain!

Both are really good. And I know how challenging that acrostic must have been! :)
