Beaneath the Surface

BENEATH THE SURFACE.

Whenever I gaze out at this view,
Which is very close at hand,
I'm fascinated by the world
Existing so near land.
All I see is the surface,
The film of watery sea,
Chopped about by advancing waves
Rolling in front of me.
I realise a billion creatures
Swim below these waves!
Beyond my view lies teeming life
In subterranean caves.
And are the sharks and whales and crabs
As unaware of me
As I of them in their watery world
Out there beneath the sea?
Parallel universes these
Linked by a shifting tide.
Strangers to each other
Yet living side by side.

Great photo - did you take it? Just what I am looking for at the moment. And I like Parallel Universe - having lived by the ocean most of my life, I miss seeing this ever changing view and thinking about what goes on below.

Lovely shot. The color is beautiful. I sometimes stand on the edge of a bank looking into the water wondering if something underneath has come to the edge to look at me.

Thanks for participating in Watery Wednesday! :-)

Beautiful picture and lucky to live close to this watery wonderland.

Your poems stimulate the grey matter, isn't it?

Strangers to each other
Yet living side by side.

Wish someone will quickly also find another form of life, like us in the universe. It'll be thrilling to shake hands with them.
