Breaking the Rule!

BREAKING THE RULE!

I AM OLD! I'M BEYOND ALL SHAMING!
THEY TELL ME THIS IS KNOWN AS 'FLAMING'!
PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY ARE MY BETTERS
SAY I MUSTN'T USE CAPITAL LETTERS!
BUT I HAPPEN TO LIKE THEM! THEY LOOK SO BOLD!
I'M AN EXCEPTION....... BECAUSE I'M OLD!

---------------------------------------------------------------

WE AREN'T THE WORLD!

'We are the World?'
You know, I really doubt it.
Although we couldn't live too well without it.
Maybe it's this, our terrible conceit,
That's leading us toward our own defeat.
Human beings are, of course, a part,
But they didn't even show-up at the start!
They made a really very late arrival
And no-one's putting bets on their survival!
The dinosaurs seemed lords of all creation
But ruled for just a limited duration!
As million after million years went by
'We are the World!' they often used to cry.
But they were forced to take a final bow.
Tyranosaurus Rex! Where are you now?
We're not the world! So let us be more humble!
Lest our bright egos take a nasty tumble!
We can enjoy this world in all its glory,
But we are not the heroes of the story.

And then there was e.e. cummings!

I used to try to emulate HIS style.

You use capitals if you want to! The language and context should show whether you are ranting or merely being capricious. I love the message in 'We aren't the World' too!

YOU ARE SHOUTING, LOL! Your choice of course!

I LOVE BOTH OF THESE. OLD PEOPLE NEED TO FLAME ON OCCASION AND IT'S WONDROUS TO SEE. BOTH THE OLD AND THE BOLD, AS WELL AS THE LESSON OF THE DINOSAURS. OH YES! THANKS AGAIN, YOUR USUAL PITHY STATEMENTS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!

So enjoyed first line about age and 'beyond all shaming' for this seems an unexpected gift of aging. One is less self-consciousness and acts from spiritedness within. Am appreciative of social observation overturning pop culture slogan, We Are The World. Also appreciate the skillfulness of the rhyme and meter of line flow.

do people still snipe at you for caps? you'd think that with so many using wonky little keyboards that would be a lost cause
...she said with no caps from her iPod (which corrected it's own name.

Your first poem made me laugh, and your second one made me stop to think. Nicely done.
