Nancy-Bird Walton has died well into her nineties. She was born Nancy Bird (a prophetic name!) and she hyphenated her name after she married. She was a pioneer aviator in the 1930s and she pre-dated the Flying Doctor Service in the Outback, flying patients to hospitals. She entered many air races at a time when it truly was a Man's World. Recently, one of the new Qantas planes has been named after her.
FLY AWAY HOME.
Nancy-Bird, Nancy-Bird, fly away home!
You now have a universe where you can roam!

What a great tribute to a pioneer who ruled the skies...!!!
I read from wiki about her.
"....In the 1930s, defying the traditional role of females of her time, she became a fully qualified pilot at the age of 19, and became the youngest Australian woman to gain a pilot's licence."
