All very attractive beneath the bright blue sky
But once this pool was famous and I will tell you why.
Way back in Newcastle's earliest days the founding fathers decreed
'A map of the world in the Paddling Pool is exactly what we need.'
And so the map was fashioned and the children swam about
In and around the continents giving a joyful shout.
'I'm swimming over America!'. 'I'm swimming over Japan!'
'Can I swim all over the world? Yes, I think I can!'
Somehow or other it was destroyed, this icon from the past,
Although some people mourned its going, standing around aghast.
And now you'd never never know that it had ever been;
A wonderful piece of handiwork that enhanced the local scene.

Seems to be a new creation
