Taken on a recent Cruise
TURQUOISE TREAT
No other colour would do,
For the main tint of this view!
When the sun is so hot,
Such a bright turquoise spot
Complements the wide ocean of blue!
*
It's not always my favourite hue.
I rather like bright yellow too.
But, when put to the test,
I'll say turquoise is best.
Though, tomorrow, that might not be true!

COLE SLAUGHTER!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Music by Cole Porter
(But not Lyrics!)
I wrote this just to amuse myself. The good thing about having a Blog is that one can inflict one's follies on others and they can't do a thing about it. Except click off!
COLE SLAUGHTER!
I get no kick on a train.
I have to confess
That the fastest express
Makes me wish that all passengers flew.
But I get a kick out of you.
I get no kick from methane!
If I'm near a cow
When its taking a bow
You'll find I detest the old moo!
But I get a kick out of you.
I get a kick every time I see the hairs upon your chest, dear!
I get a kick though its clear that I will never see the rest, dear.
I get no kick in Ukraine !
Fur hats and boots
And those grey Russian suits
Get me yearning for old Timbuktoo
But I get a kick out of you.
*
*
I get no kick in Bahrain !
Those Caliphs and Sheiks
Haven't got what it takes,
And the sky is so boringly blue.
But I get a kick out of you.
I get no kick down the drain!
The rubbish and muck
And the spray from each truck
Make me very determined to sue!
But I get a kick out of you.
I get a kick when I feel you standing very near, Amigo!
I get a kick, though its clear that you don't ever stroke my ego.
I get no kick down a lane!
Mosquitoes and fleas
Come and nibble my knees
And at night I get dampened by dew.
But I get a kick out of you.
*
*
I get no kick from a chain!
I never can think
What to do with each link
And I can't cope with more than a few.
But I get a kick out of you.
I got no kick from Fontaine.
When she did a pose
On the tips of her toes
I was really quite bored with the view.
But I get a kick out of you.
I get a kick every time I catch a glimpse of your physique, dear.
I get a kick though I know, for sure, I'll only get a peek, dear.
I get no kick from my brain!
I feel out of sorts
When I think silly thoughts
And quite often I haven't a clue.
But I get a kick out of you.
*
*
I get no kick from a crane!
When I'm grabbed by the scoop
And start looping the loop,
I feel sure that I'm going to spew!
But I get a kick out of you.
I get no kick from champagne!
All that bubble and fizz
Makes me utter 'Gee whizz!'
Though I'm certain you're being untrue.
But I get a kick out of you.
I get a kick every time I hear you speaking on the phone, dear.
I get a kick though its clear that I will get a busy tone, dear.
I get no kick in the rain!
Each puddle and drip
Finds me losing my grip
And the thunder's a hullaballoo!
But I get a kick out of you.
*
*
I get no kick being plain!
My face, in repose,
Is all chin and all nose
And my features are somewhat askew.
But I get a kick out of you.
I'll get no kick being slain!
I'm certain that if
I begin to go stiff
All the worms will be wanting a chew!
But I get a kick out of you.
I get a kick like the kick you get from some gigantic horse, dear.
I get a kick and its all the fault of my great love, of course, dear.
I get a kick once again!
If they shout out 'Encore!'
I can do a lot more
And increasingly boringly too!
But I get a kick,
Oh what a kick,
I get a kick out of you.

I enjoyed this very much! Isn't it great to have absolutely free license?
Splendid! Your turquoise photo is wonderful, and I marvel at your ability to rhyme with such wit!
Very clever! I'm waiting for the recording. When does it come out?!

you are creative and fun,
love both poems..
Spellbinding water and thigh-slapping humor on Cole Slaughter.
Oh, I can just hear that second one being sung! LOL!
I don't know about cruises... maybe one day!
What a gorgeous shot! Would love to be there!
Love your poems as well!
OMG, your take on the Cole Porter's song was so funny lol. Cute poem about turquoise. Your one clever gal. Great T post.
ON+MG, love them both!!! I was singing to the second one!
Dear Brenda,
I especially like your 'Turquoise Treat' with the photo from the cruise.
I see that you are playing both abcWed & Alphabe-Thursday. But maybe you have been doing this all along. I started out doing two separate posts for the same letter until I discovered that I could do one post for both.
You are such a good poet. Inspired by you, Carmen Hennessey and The Fifth Sister, I have actually tried to write a poem or rather translate one by a Swedish poet who was better than I ever could hope to be.
But my T-post is a mixed bag. Since my translation is not good enough to stand alone (I could not get my it to rhyme the way the original Swedish poem does. Maybe you could have found the right words) so I have lots of my own photos of an animal, flowers and my mini series "Tourist in my own Town".
Best wishes,
Anna

Good morning! Welcome to class! And class, please welcome Brenda to Alphabe-Thursday!
What a fabulous poem. And an interesting blog.
You have quite the way with words!
I enjoyed the tempo of the first one...it reminded me of something I used to read to my children but I can't place it...so it was doubly enjoyable for me!
Thanks for participating!
You are terrific!
A+
I do love turquoise too.
I love both of these poems! I'm following Jenny's instructions but starting with odd numbers from the end backwards!!
You fickle poem about turquoise is marvelous-- that's just how I feel about it, too! Loved your song lyrics.
that's awesome blue.
too cute not to be true.
well done.
The beautiful blue water is so inviting.
You have a very unique ay with words! I love Turquoise so I really did enjoy this! Thanks for sharing! Anne
I had to laugh...you had me singing with Cole Slaughter.
I think the turquoise is very cooling.
I got a kick out of your rhyme! You are so talented!
I love them both!! What you did with Cole Porter is just hilarious! You are so creative!!!
Your take on Cole Porter's song is so well executed - well done!
And that beautiful turquoise photo - I spy an empty lounge chair and wish I were in it with a cold drink at hand.
You are hilarious! So adept at turning a phrase! The first one is great, but the parody is exquisite!
Turquoise is the perfect T word! :)
Greetings from Germany,
Birgit
PS: See my T post here! :)
Man.
You are so good at this.
Your rhythm, your meter, your phrasing, your choice of subjects.
