Oh the blissful cool of sails
When the summer heat prevails.
Just to see them overhead
Makes the red-heat much less red!
You may say you prefer a tree
With all its leafy majesty!
You may sneer at this man-made
Attempt at offering some shade!
But see the patterned filigree!
We can enjoy both sail and tree!

An Arm And A Leg
(An acrostic explanation)
A Carpenter in days gone by
Never merely made a chair
*
Also included were extra 'limbs'
Representing, each, a spare.
Money was scarce in those far-off days
*
And nothing was neglected;
Nothing was 'throw-away' back then;
Decades of wear were expected.
*
As arms and legs might wear out first
*
Leaving the owner short
Each Carpenter supplied the spares;
(Gaining profit, I'd have thought!)

I love the sail, and the shadows are great.

A sail and a carpenter! Interesting pairing of poems!
And love the play of shadows on the sail shade cloth!
Shady place
on a sizzling day
cools my face.
Shadowy Pergola
Ambiguous and interesting photo. The shadowy tree
effect does indeed serve two purposes!
I love the sail - a very pleasing alternative to the more conventional awning!
I liked 'Oubliette' too - it sent quite a shiver down my spine.
Fine Shadow Shot...I enjoyed the poem too. Have a good week ahead!
I like your catchy little rhyme and it's lovely to see a summery shadow shot when today is so dreary!
