THREE WORD WEDNESDAY
'Hassle, wealth, inject.'
THE CHOICE
I find that it's a hassle, trying to pay my way,
Sorting out my finances day after day after day!
Some people have a way with money, everything turns to gold,
Others end up on a pension when, finally, they grow old.
I'd love to have the ability to bet on the horse that wins
To choose the right investments, the silvers, the coppers, tins!
I wish I'd been the sort of child who traded conkers at school
And then went on to do great things, never taken for a fool.
What if I could sell my soul for financial expertise,
Trade-in some other benefit for luck with commodities?
*
If I could say to a doctor 'Inject me, if you can,
With some special little hormone that makes me a wealthy man!'
Would he reply ' I'll do it if this is what you choose,
But you must realise you'll gain very much less than you lose!
What if I tell you you will swap a lifetime of good health
For this, your chosen attribute, the ability to earn great wealth?'
*
I'd choose what I have already above what I just desire,
Great wealth is high on on my list I know
But good health is even higher.

WORSHIP
(An Acrostic)
Wonder is at the heart of worship; mankind, filled with awe,
Offering complete devotion to One Without a Flaw.
Religious people worship Gods, of many different kinds;
Some others worship Money; it occupies their minds.
Hero-worship, too, exists; sometimes without good reason.
If one should speak against a Hero it's considered treason!
Perhaps the most insidious form of worship is just this......
Worship of Self ! That's something that I hope we all dismiss!

I greatly admire poets who can rhyme without sounding corny or forced and you did a fine job of that.
Smart choice: health over wealth for me too! Although, if ever they come up with something that could cause wealth... hmmm... I wonder what the impact would be in the world: would be see a gazillion millionaires dying young?
The age old issue "Be careful what you wish for". Yes indeed we all want wealth but as you show us in your poem some things are worth much much more. Thank you for sharing.
Clever poem with a good message, wealth is favorable but health more so.
Yes wise words you have there -- if only ...we could have it all though.. good health ,prosperity or whatever that means.. and happiness,, I guess it is all choices how we chose to live in the moment that the divine Creator gave us.
Have a lovely day,
Joanny
enjoyed reading both :)
Your rhyme reminds me of a true story. A wealthy automobile dealer had a salesman who envied his bosses wealth. He told the boss he wished he had everything that the boss owned. The owner told him that if he would take every thing he would gladly give it all to him. The owner was dying of cancer.
Be careful what you wish for; you might just get it.
Lovely rhyme! it was awesome :)
Your poem is well-written. Health over wealth any day. :)
So smart! And I love your rhythm and unobtrusive rhyme!
Very nice. I've always been quite awful at poetry, and appreciate what it takes to write it; especially something that makes one think - like this 3WW entry :-)
My dad always said it was better to be wealthy and healthy than poor and sick...I always thought it strange that it had to be trade-off. :) Nifty poem AND acrostic.
Your work is simply beautiful i've read your work all over the net.
I'm posted also please follow the link.
Heroin Master
Thanks For Reading
Great stuff. All these people who chase wealth, when they already have it in health.
I wish I could get an injection of that money acumen, too!
Worship as awe for the wonder of this world is dead on. A little too much self-worship around here these days, I'm afraid!
What a great poem and I just know we'd all choose good health. The older I get the more important it becomes. Of course it would be even nicer to have both! :)
