My Blue Heaven

SCENIC SUNDAY

MY BLUE HEAVEN

I've never understood, have you,
Why feeling sad is feeling 'blue'?
Here I am by a blue blue sea,
With shadows blue as they can be,
Under the bluest of blue skies!
It would be a great surprise
If I were feeling sad and wan
With all that blueness going on!
'My Blue Heaven' my favourite hue,
And I certainly DON'T feel  'blue'!

You are advised not to use this poem for serious study!

NUCLEAR FIZZICKS!

You have about ten trillion cells, well, give or take a few.
All of them involved in making you the unique 'you'.
I celebrate the Nucleus, the centre of the cell,
For there sits a powerful memory bank which serves you very well.
Imagine the size of a Nucleus! It's beyond our comprehension!
Our minds cannot cope with things with such a small dimension!
If we could make cells large enough to cover a whole city
We'd see how intricate they are, but we can't and that's a pity!
The Nucleus has a nucleolus lurking deep inside,
And that deals with the ribosomes. I think they're modified.
Ribosomes deal with synthesis; they appear to float about!
Some are inside the Nucleus and some of them are out.
'Smooth endoplasmic reticulum'! A rather tasty phrase.
I think it just means 'stuff' myself, but it helps in many ways.
Other things float inside it, like cherries in a bun,
One of them's mitochondria; now that's a clever one!
Mitochondria make energy, and help us run around;
Mitochondria are rod shaped but circular ones are found.
There are many more bits and pieces, too many for my brain,
I merely 'Googled' all of this to set this verse in train.
There's more! Three hundred million cells each day curl up and die!
How do we do without them? How on earth do we get by?
That's three hundred million Nuclei lost and gone for ever!
I fear for my poor addled brain it's all a bit too clever!
I've lost so many nuclei just working on this verse
That I think I'll have to put the whole darned process in reverse!

You are absolutely right about the color blue. It doesn't make me sad it makes me happy.

What a wonderful place you have there:)

A poem with so much sunshine, how true the word blue could mean unhappiness yet the sea which is so relaxing to watch is the same colour.

Take care.

Wow Brenda;) that is heaven where you live. And blue is beautiful - why it should depict sadness, I cannot think. Thanks for the suggestion for kitty's name. That would have been a really different one for a cat!

It's my favourite. A heavenly colour!

Beautiful blue sea, sky and thoughts on the word. We doubt that feeling "yellow" would have the same impact.

Hi Brenda,
Thank you for dropping by my blog! I love the color blue, and I love the sea. Do you live near the ocean? That is my dream...

I wouldn't be blue...
If that beautiful hue...
Surrounded me too...
(((HUGS TO YOU))) T

My Blue Heaven has always been a favorite song of mine! And the color blue? Also my favorite!

I had to chuckle at your comment on my poetry blog .... you are so right ~ the singing begins in earnest after meals have been consumed.

What a scenic view with lots of blue! You're right...we should be feeling gray or black or brown but not blue!

I Love that combo of Blue...I love to go to the beach when stress...let it come and take all the stress away and wash it back out to sea!

So beautiful!

I so agree with you about the colour blue.

Your little rhyme about it is just perfect. I really enjoyed reading it this Sunday morning.

Have a fantastic rest of the day on the other side of the world. xxx

What a beautiful poem. I love the colour blue! I think it is a misunderstood colour!

I love the blue of your beautiful world and, as a nurse, I really got a kick out of "Nuclear Fizzicks." I've just written and published my first book of poetry!
