IMPROMPTU!
MOTION
Who knows why they were dancing?
I only know that they danced!
I passed them on the waterfront
And I stood there, quite entranced.
They were New Zealand tourists,
Over here for a spell,
Doing a Maori War Dance!
But why, I cannot tell!

When you've lost an item do you always feel it's there
Laughing at you, scornfully, daring a sort of dare?
You know it's somewhere in the house, well, it just has to be,
That letter or that diamond ring, that video, that key!
You know you had it yesterday! You think you're going mad!
And that nasty 'thing's' malevolent! You know you're being 'had'!
You stand stock still, retrace your steps, try hard to keep your cool,
Knowing that 'thing' that you've mislaid is taking you for a fool.
You almost hear it chuckle! Is it underneath the bed?
No no no! Impossible! You try the bin instead!
You find you're talking to yourself out loud like some old freak!
You hear this crazy voice emerge..... 'I put it there last week!'
And what if you never find 'it'! It never leaves your brain!
It seems for all eternity you search and search again!
Not physically, but mentally, the search goes on and on!
It seems you'll never just relax and say 'Oh well, it's gone!'
Meanwhile, the 'thing' has beaten you! It's got the upper hand!
Everything has turned out just exactly as it planned!
When you've lost an item do you always feel it's there
Laughing at you, scornfully, daring a sort of dare?
