The Mystery

WATERY WEDNESDAY

Water! You're so very big and I am so very small.
Will you grow with me, I wonder, and be huge when I'm tall?
Will we be together, growing side by side,
One of us getting higher, one of us more wide?
'No' answered the Water 'You will grow it's true,
But I will shrink and shrink and shrink each day compared with you.
Now I seem an ocean, stretching way, way beyond,
But then you'll look at me and see nothing much more than a pond.'

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
(An Acrostic)

'Daddy! Stop hitting Mummy!'
Often we hear that cry.
'Mummy! You're hurting Daddy!'
Emotions are running high.
Screams from behind the curtains!
Taunts that are worse than blows!
'Incidents' in the papers;
Constant accounts of those.
*
Vividly, we imagine
Irritation turned to spite.
Outwardly all seems happy;
Love ending in a fight.
Eros and Mars aren't partners.
Name-calling doesn't help
Caresses and honeymooning
End in a hopeless yelp.

I really enjoyed, for want of a better word, the domestic violence poem. Not come across an acrostic before :O)

Sweet photo.

My daughter lived in a Domestic Violent surrounding before her divorce. This really touched home.

My watery photos are posted if you'd care to join me.

Both of these are good, though the first one is nicer. The water one was cool, I was thinking about that very thing, how things shrink as we grow, the other day. Domestic Violence is a hard subject but you handled it well. The illustration hit home.

What causes domestic violence?
How much is anger?
How much is alcohol?

The poems reminded me of sweet and sour - the first reflects the sweetness of children while the second how bitter and sour domestic violence is. "Mystery" I loved the rhyme. It's so true that we view the world so differently as we age. Sad and true!
