Another little poem for children published for ABC WEDNESDAY. This week's letter is R.
A photographic 'R' can be seen on my PLUS blog.
RED-HOT ROOSTER!
The Rooster rules the farmyard,
Perched high upon a rail.
Feathers ruffle,
Chickens scuffle,
When the Rooster spreads his tail.
The Rooster rules the farmyard;
He raises his voice on high.
But, one fine day,
That rooster may
End up in a pie!
The Rooster rules the farmyard.
He lifts his royal head.
Running rabbits
Know his habits;
See his comb is glowing red!
The Rooster rules the farmyard
with a 'Cock-a-doodle-doo!'
But, one fine night,
That rooster might
End up in a stew!

Oh my goodness I see what you mean!! Will print your poem off, if I may, and put it on my kitchen wall... a sound reminder of sunday!! Thanks for dropping by. Love your poem and the piccy.
This is great! Reminds me of a cocky old rooster I saw last summer who was ruling the roost. :D
Another wonderful poem from you on ABC Wednesday.
Thank You.

Love your pick for the R and the poem:)
I've kept hens, and the rooster was just like that! He caught my daughter collecting eggs and pecked. He made a hole in her foot through her rubber boots - the boots were new, and she never ever forgave him!
On behalf of the ABC Team, I'd like to thank you for your continued participation each week.
Now that's just the sort of poem that I remember reading as a child! It tells a story, the meter and rhyme is excellent - and there's a little sting in the tail.
Love it! :)
Very funny! Great choise.
Great poem for the letter R.
When we were staying with a family in Nicaragua a few years ago we had that rooster for stew. The crazy thing kept us awake night after night. Then one night we heard a loud ruckus and squak. The next day for lunch guess what we had?
Guess my roosters have better manners... at least none have ended up stewed yet! Nice poem...
Love your rooster!! Good ABC choice!...and your music!
