Elevation!

ELEVATION!

The ocean cruiser sailed along, pristine in every part.
The windows gleamed like crystal, thanks to a certain art.
The art of window-cleaning doesn't get a lot of press,
Although they get a lot of flack if windows look a mess.
We weren't right out at sea, of course, but the water was quite deep!
And I expected all the while a death-defying leap!
Attached by ropes they surely were, but high above the sea,
And I was very grateful that one of them wasn't me!

I am in awe of sailors who climb the masts. I become fearful just watching them.

To clean windows while at sea seems a very odd thing to have to do! Enlarged, the photo has a lot of detail that adds to the drama of the scene.

LOL! This is a fun read, and I so agree!!! I wouldn't want that job.

I loved the poem. It gave me shivers to think of the window cleaners hanging over the water.

I love sailing and would have been a sailor, had I been a boy, for my father was one. I often made a voyage from the Netherlands to Indonesia and back and I always enjoyed travelling. Thanks for reviving these memories.

Ha! That was fun! LOL!

It's true, those 'high-building' window cleaners take their lives in their hands. I don't know how they do it!

Don't know why but never thought about cleaning windows on ships. Some of those ocean liners are huge, as you say, rather them than me.
