If Only

harmony/discord  triumph/fail

If people could live in harmony
They would never fail;
They would fill the world with happiness
And empty every jail.
But while they live in discord
Triumph is out of reach.
(Eight little lines, a tiny verse
But what a lesson to teach!)

(An Acrostic)

Divided we fall, united we stand!
Isn't that message rather grand?
Visualise a world improved
If by that message we were moved!
Division leaves us all in pieces!
Every noble aim decreases!
Double! Treble our situation!
Witness nation joined with nation!
Empathy! And brotherhood!
Fantasy? Oh that we could
All combine to stand as one!
Leave behind the bomb and gun!
Leave behind the jingoistic!
(Let's pretend I'm realistic!)

You have shared a valuable lesson in a few short lines. Often 'short' is good if one wants to make a point!

Enjoyed them both!

It may be short...but it sure is sweet! Valuable lessons in both of your poems.

Yes, very uplifting to think of such a world.

You packed a lot of power in a few short lines. I too enjoyed them both.
