Another time, another age;
Another phase, another stage.
A different style of decoration;
Another source of inspiration.
The subject so demure, not bawdy;
The colour muted and not gaudy.
The shadow's timeless though, because
A shadow is what a shadow was.

A PUNNY INTERLUDE
Don't you love it! Isn't it 'cute'!
Isn't this cartoon a hoot!
Gerald! Gerald! You've done it again!
I know I'm singing an old refrain.)
I love puns and quirky minds.
Gerald has been one of my finds.
I'm not one to laugh out loud
I'm really one of the 'sniggering' crowd,
But a little titter did emerge
And I felt a bit of a 'guffaw' surge!
I feel this needs wider recognition.
So I am on a 'spreading' mission.
Gerald is a misogynist
While I'm a rampant feminist!
That body looks feminine to me,
The fingers spreading daintily!
Gerald! Gerald! Clean up your act
Or I'll leave your fan-club!
That's a fact!

such a simple but lovely photo!
ReplyDeletegreat poems!
Hee, hee. Gerald Gee.
ReplyDeleteNot me.
Only he.
Elegant indeed. The supports for the shade are so delicately decorative.
ReplyDeleteit looks to be a very elegant oil (?) lamp. I'm sure it's shadow in the dark is very dramatic compared to this lovely, soft version.
ReplyDeleteI love those beautiful old lamps! And what a delightful shadow shot it makes, Brenda! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
A truly beautiful lamp, very elegant!
ReplyDeleteLovely lamp photo and I enjoyed the poem. Especially the line 'a shadow is what a shadow was' ...deep!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your weekend :)
What a gorgeous elegant lamp, great shadow
ReplyDeleteI like your shadow shot. It is elegant. Youir words speak the truth.
ReplyDeleteI wonder about the Gee cartoon. Was that only suppose to happen to a man? I thought matricide to be genderless:-)
Peace.
What a lovely muted shadow from the lamp - like lace!
ReplyDeleteGreat comic and poems as well!
