MONOCHROME
DEMOLITION
The young man returned
After long years away.
He ran up the old familiar steps.
And then he stopped!
*
Light
Where there should have been
Solidity.
Space
Where there should have been
Density.
Strangeness
Where there should have been
Familiarity.
*
For a moment he stood nonplussed,
Not daring to go further.
*
A passer-by called out
'Pulled down five year ago, mate.
The owners died.'
*
The young man returned to his car
And drove away.

The same mood here:
This time you have reached a new level. There is wonderful. So very well done.
ReplyDeleteSplendid aisle of trees. No figures in the depths of the image but a tiny scene. Great.
ReplyDeleteSad poem but I love Black and White photos.
ReplyDeleteHow swift, and not so swift, all at once. Such is life. Ouch.
ReplyDeleteA lifetime in this short piece. Well done -
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful photo. And how sad to come home too late.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite pieces.
Very nice picture. I'm happy that I am able to see it. For the last several weeks I couldn't get on your blog for some reason.
ReplyDeleteThe picture and the words mix so well :-) just love the feeling in this picture you must know.
ReplyDeleteAnne.
This really works. Is the writing yours as well?
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of demolition going on at present.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very unique way to monochrome.
ReplyDeleteLoved the poem. It was like a movie story captured in poem, with all the mystery and suspense..!!!!
