MAGPIE TALES
ACCUSATION
She died easily in the end.
I wanted her gone
But dreaded the horror,
The blood,
The cries,
The gasps.
*
Most of all, I dreaded the blood,
Her blood,
So red,
So alive,
So accusing.
After all I had loved her,
Once.
*
I had fallen in love
With the flare of her.
*
Yes, flare!
For she burned brightly,
All gold and red;
Earrings,
Necklaces,
Flashing fingers.
*
And red lips,
Always painted thickly,
Brightly,
Temptingly.
*
And the fingers!
I thought of them as talons now.
But not then.
*
It was the thought of The Other
Enjoying her
As I had done,
That tipped me over the edge.
*
But I could not bring myself
To spill that rich red blood.
So red!
*
She slipped under the water
Gently,
Without a cry.
*
I had prepared myself so well.
There was no chance of discovery.
And, certainly, I was in control
Of myself.
No stupid hysteria from me!
No sir!
*
And then I saw her toes!
*
Blood red.
*
Accusing.........

PRAYER
(an Acrostic)
'Put your hands together'
Religious people say.
'Ask for anything you want;
Your God will find a way.
Everything is in his hands.
Relax! He will take care.
Every Believer understands
That God is everywhere.'
*
Gosh, I forgot how good you are at this since I haven't visited here in a while! I thought those were my toes in the tub until I read the poem. Which was captivating and I would like to read more...Its good that prayer follows the evil deed.
ReplyDeleteVery nice Brenda. That first one could have been a story! I wanted to hear more! Love Di ♥
ReplyDeleteThis is a great Magpie Tale, but there is something wrong with the Mr Linky thing for your blog - it kept telling me 'server not found' and suggested I check spelling. You may want to go back and leave a gentle moan for Willow?
ReplyDeleteWow, powerful poem beautifully written and I liked the prayer at the end - almost like a cleanser ;-)

ReplyDeleteGood God!! This was chilling, and scary!! And the emotions spilled out of the tub and from my screen!
ReplyDeleteVery well written!!!
I could visualize it all, and it gave me the creeps... the calculated murder!!!
I seek permission to print this and cut out the last line so as to not spoil my murderous gloating! Actually, I think I prefer divorce! ha ha!
