Number 151 is really today's Blog but I couldn't resist this cartoon from our weekend paper! A poem demanded to be written! (The word 'scarpa' may be new to you. It means GO. I think it comes from Cockney rhyming slang and originated in WW1, when someone or other left Scarpa Flo rather hastily. So 'scarpa' now means 'dash off!')
AFTERMATH
Georgie's sweeping up his mess.
Seems he's under some duress.
When he scarpas at the double
Someone else can face the rubble!
No truer words have been spoken!
ReplyDeleteGreat poetry here, Mrs. Bryant. Nice to meet you. I've just looked up some other people who were interested in graphology and ended up in your blog.
ReplyDeleteSee you around! :)
Good one Brenda.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to try your hand at a poem about the Wall Street mess?
Bear((( )))
Grinning to the urge that overtakes you seeing news and events - to capture them in your poems.
ReplyDeleteMany a carpets would have stories to tell, with all the scarpa-ing underneath it :))))
